Second Edition – Launched October 2024
The second edition of our GESI report includes a further 10 case studies from new BEI members and the addition of Localisation in Section 3 as part of the necessary inclusive approach.
At its heart, the ambition and intent behind Gender Equality and Social Inclusion is simple: everyone should benefit from equal protection of rights, political participation, access to basic resources and quality of services.
However, exclusion and marginalisation are in many instances built into the fabric of policy, society and attitudes. Often, the most excluded or marginalised are disproportionately impacted by Humanitarian, Health or Climate Crises. This was clearly and tellingly the case during the Covid-19 pandemic, where the crisis in lost learning was most pronounced amongst the most marginalised in society.
As Governments, their agencies, multi-lateral donors, foundations and spokespeople for these communities come together to try and tackle these issues, the learning and experience of UK-based organisations and practitioners has been synthesised into this document. The report provides a blueprint and framing for the approach needed, together with a summary of members’ individual capabilities and examples of best practice deployed to deliver effective outcomes.
