Advances in Digital Construction are changing the infrastructure industry expeditiously and on a global scale. Digitalisation and integration of tools across all operational and process levels are seemingly creating significant value for organisations and projects. In this session we will delve into some of the approaches and technologies available and hear from companies who are implementing them in their projects.

Advances in Digital Construction are changing the infrastructure industry expeditiously and on a global scale. Digitalisation and integration of tools across all operational and process levels are seemingly creating significant value for organisations and projects. Informed decisions can lead to time saving, less waste, better cost control and better use of resources. The use of innovative digital tools in construction can help improve operational efficiency to optimise processes.
Creating a holistic data picture, streamlining the work of teams while promoting transparency across projects will invariably reduce errors and make it simpler to conduct cohesive risk analyses. The overall results should improve health and safety and reduce site and construction hazards.
From an environmental point of view, the construction sector is one of the biggest producers of carbon emissions, bearing responsibility for 39% of global carbon emissions. To help with the decarbonisation of the sector, huge strides must be taken, and these might be more possible with the use of elective tools in progressive technology.
Availability of digital tools allows the advancement of sustainable growth and can greatly aid companies with their ESG goals, both at an internal and an operational level. Research, development, and production can be angled on crafting more environmentally friendly and sustainable processes throughout the whole lifecycle of projects.
By embracing these technologies and ensuring their seamless integration, policymakers, organizations, and projects can drive efficiency, improve collaboration, reduce costs, and deliver successful outcomes in the built environment.
National/central level with policymakers - Digital construction technologies provide policymakers with valuable insights for policy development, strategic planning, and encouraging standardisation across the industry.
Organisational/asset level with infrastructure owners and operators, development corporations, public procurers - Digital strategy and transformation consultancy enable infrastructure owners and operators to harness the potential of digital technologies, implement digital twin solutions, develop skills and training programs, and align with the industry's digital transformation.
Project/programme level with clients and project teams - digital design and delivery, information management, procurement of digital services, improve project outcomes, streamline collaboration, and enable efficient project delivery.
British organisations are leading the way in digital construction methods in the UK and internationally. In this session we will delve into some of the approaches and technologies available and hear from companies who are implementing them in their projects.
