Australia is the 13th largest economy in the world, by GDP (IMF, October 2021), and the UK's 15th largest export market. The two countries enjoy a special relationship and post-Brexit signed an ambitious and comprehensive free trade agreement which is expected to deliver a range of benefits for UK businesses including: tariff-free exports of goods, unprecedented access for service providers, and more opportunities to trade digitally. Key areas of opportunities for UK companies cover a wide range of sectors, including financial services and fintech, technology, cybersecurity, and infrastructure.
Ms Lynette Wood was the Australian Ambassador to Switzerland, Germany, and Liechtenstein from 2016 to 2020. In Canberra, Ms. Wood was the First Assistant Secretary, International Division with the Department of the Prime Minister, and Cabinet (PM&C). She has served as Assistant Secretary, Middle East Branch, and Executive Branch at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade(DFAT).
