Francophone Africa has in the recent past contained some of the fastest growing economies in Africa with Cote d'Ivoire recording 7.5% growth in 2019. Senegal is also making strides in the implementation with the African Development Bank of the Plan for Emerging Senegal as it aims to stabilise its macroeconomic environment. Burkina Faso and Senegal-19 are the countries that are most affected by Covid-19 in the region at the moment. While the countries' health systems have been able to respond to epidemics in the past, like Ebola and Yellow Fever, without substantial aid from developed countries, which are also battling the pandemic, the region will have a difficult time containing the virus.
