How Can We Better Support Women Progressing In Management and Leadership Roles?
Though many sectors and organisations are making real inroads with their diversity and inclusion policies and with gender equality firmly on the agenda, the top of the female ‘talent funnel’ continues not to reflect the depth and breadth of the expertise and potential we have in the UK. According to a recent study by IBM, despite increased awareness of gender imbalances, the number of women serving in senior leadership positions has barely increased over the past two years, while the senior female talent pipeline has shrunk, with pressures due to the pandemic being a significant contributing factor.
As such, all industries need to do more than ever to retain and develop female talent in mid-management and senior roles, providing flexible working policies, enabling return to work and developing nuanced feedback structures, targeted training and mentorship opportunities.
Our panel will share their insights and experiences on some of the ways in which their industries are working to attract, retain and progress more female talent, and will reflect the sectoral focus of The D Group and British Expertise International’s networks, with particular focus on national security, infrastructure, technology (tbc) and international development. This briefing will provide an opportunity to discuss the successes and challenges facing women progressing into management and leadership roles, and create a forum for shared learning between Members.
Attendees are invited to stay for an informal reception following the panel discussion.
