In the Caribbean, weather and climate events impact economic performance, productivity, livelihoods and quality of life. The Caribbean Development Bank is committed to helping Borrowing Member Countries reduce inequality, improve social and economy conditions and safeguard against the climate crisis through supporting inclusive and sustainable growth in tandem with good governance.
At our virtual roundtable on 25th October, representatives of the Caribbean Development Bank will discuss specific challenges the Caribbean is facing in relation to extreme weather and climate resilient infrastructure. They will provide an overview of their priorities and related opportunities.
Members of BEI’s Extreme Weather Risk and Built Environment sub-groups (part of the BEI Climate Change Working Group) will showcase specific case studies, demonstrating how they work with clients and stakeholders to deliver impact and value for money. The roundtable discussion will focus on interventions and solutions that can support specific areas of need in the Caribbean, with specific focus on:
• Climate Resilient Building Assessment
• Early Warning System Design
• Environmental and Social Safeguarding
Working Group members will share best practice and lessons learnt and discuss the outcomes of past interventions and their impact on the design of future projects.
Join us for this virtual roundtable meeting as we discuss the priorities of the Caribbean Development Bank and the future needs in climate change remediation and mitigation in this region.
