Ahead of ICAI’s upcoming rapid review on UK aid’s alignment with the Paris Agreement, join us for a private presentation and discussion with the ICAI team and feed into the review process.
In 2019, the UK government made a commitment to align UK official development assistance (ODA) with the Paris Agreement. The Independent Commission for Aid Impact (ICAI)’s rapid review will assess whether the government has put in place suitable strategies, systems and processes to align cross-government UK aid spend with the Paris Agreement. The review will build on previous scrutiny of UK aid and climate change, including the 2019 ICAI review of International Climate Finance and the 2019 International Development Committee (IDC) inquiry into UK aid for combating climate change. It will also build on previous ICAI reviews into ‘what works’ for successful mainstreaming. More details about this rapid review can be found here.
In this meeting, the ICAI review team will give a short presentation on the Government’s current thinking and action on alignment of development aid with the Paris Agreement commitments. This will be followed by a discussion, which will offer an opportunity to explore what progress has been made against the commitment and if there are suitable strategies, systems and processes in place to deliver alignment.
Climate change is shifting the environmental and social structures that support human well-being and economic activity, with the greatest impact being on low and middle income countries.
