Join us for an online panel event on Disinformation: Countering Divisive Narratives, which will feature a panel of BEI members sharing their expertise working on projects countering disinformation globally.
Disinformation and misinformation, together with increasing hate speech and propaganda, especially online, are creating social divisions and mistrust in public institutions. This event will showcase the work of BEI Members to counter divisive narratives and successfully implement projects to reduce such divisions in society.
Our panelists will explore the roles of civil society organisations, the media and government institutions in efforts to tackle disinformation at all levels of society. PIN will delve into their media-literacy programming for youth and share their expertise in working successfully with local organisations to deliver their programmes. M&C Saatchi will explore the crucial role of media in combatting divisive narratives, promoting diverse and independent journalism and ensuring access to information. BBC Media Action will focus on research approaches to monitor and understand divisive narratives, and how these insights can be used to design effective interventions that can counter these, drawing on work from both Libya and Ukraine.
