Join us as we welcome the UK's High Commissioner to Ghana, HE Iain Walker, to give a country overview of all the latest opportunities for British exporters and provide insight into one of the fastest growing economies in the world.
Africa is a growing market for the UK, particularly following the continent’s creation of its own free trade area through the African Continental Free Trade Agreement. Ghana is one of several African countries that is emerging as an increasingly important trading partner for the United Kingdom in the region, with the Ghana-UK Trade Partnership Agreement having recently been signed into agreement in December 2020.
Alongside this Trade Agreement, Ghana is also rapidly developing as a regional hub having received the biggest amount of FDI in West Africa and devising strategic ambitions to become the centre for financial services, logistics and manufacturing within the next decade.
Since the transition to multi-party democracy in the 1990s, Ghana has maintained impressive GDP growth and was recently competing as one of the fastest growing economies in the world. With a population of over 30 million people and a strong and stable political economy, the country represents a valuable opportunity for British exporters looking to enter the West African marketplace, particularly in the areas of financial services and manufacturing.
UK exports will benefit from greater tariff liberalisation from 2023 onwards, meaning British exporters involved in industrial supplies, capital and consumer goods and foodstuffs, will be best placed to capitalise on these opportunities.
To hear about all of these opportunities and a general overview of Ghana, join this virtual webinar with BEI and HE Iain Walker, HM High Commissioner to Ghana.
