This year the Vietnamese embassy and their brilliant staff, led by the indefatigable Ambassador Long, are celebrating 50 years of Vietnam /UK diplomatic relations with a whole program of events. Two will take place, as part of this, at 23 Grafton Street between 28th March and 7th April . More information on these will be shared shortly.
On Thursday in its imposing Locarno Room, FCDO hosted the kick-off event. A number of leading UK companies, ministers and, of course, many of our Vietnamese friends, all hosted by FCDO Minister of State for Indo-Pacific, Anne-Marie Trevelyan, listened to speeches which underlined the importance and substance of this relationship, particularly in the context of Trade and the UK joining the broader CPTPP economic block. A great evening, made possible by a lot of effort on the part of FCDO and embassy staff, for which many thanks.
From the BEI membership point of view, the opportunities around hard and soft infrastructure are many and these will be the continuing focus of the team’s relationship management with members and the focus of the upcoming roundtables with Energy Minister and past HMG Trade Envoy to Viet Nam, Graham Stuart and the newly appointed Trade Envoy to Viet Nam, Mark Garnier.
