Dear Members and Friends,
As some of you will already be aware, after 5 years here at British Expertise International (BEI) I will be moving on. It has been a great and rewarding experience working with all our members, stakeholders and broader networks. Peter O’Kane, BEI Chair and Executive Chair of BEI’s parent company Strategy International will be assuming BEI leadership responsibilities pending the appointment of a new MD.
I believe BEI plays a vital role in promoting British expertise internationally and I have every confidence that the BEI Team will continue to deliver the great support and services that members have come to expect, with Strategy International’s commitment to British Expertise remaining strong, leveraging the huge export opportunities across the company’s core sectors of focus. We have been working hard to prepare a vibrant Autumn/Winter programme catering for the wide range of interests for our members and networks. I will be taking some time to recalibrate before exploring new opportunities, and I hope that our paths will cross again. A huge thank you to my team and colleagues across Strategy International for the great work and support over the years, and most importantly thank you, to you, our members, stakeholders and networks who continue to drive BEI to greater heights.
In addition to the events I informed you about last week, we have also now confirmed the following additional activities for Autumn.
As part of this year’s UK — Uganda Trade Summit, please join us for an in person briefing on September 12th at 11.30am with key figures involved in developing more effective trade relations between the UK and Uganda, in partnership with the Uganda-UK Trade & Investment Convention and the Department for International Trade, Uganda.
The Trade Summit is designed to forge new business deals, invest in bankable projects and reinforce economic relations between the UK and Uganda, including the East African Community. We will be joined by members of DIT and UKEF in addition to the key representatives of the and stakeholders from the Ugandan government and associated bodies.
On Tuesday 20th September, please join us for a webinar on Peru — Opportunities in Climate Resilience and Adaptation. This event is being hosted in partnership with DIT Peru and the British Peruvian Chamber of Commerce. The panel will discuss the latest innovations around climate adaptation and mitigation being implemented in the country and the areas in which collaboration is desired.
On Monday 26th September, 2022 we are delighted to host Alexander Milne, the DIT Country Director for Kenya for an in-person briefing and Market Opportunity Overview: Kenya
The UK and Kenya have a strong history and well-established trading relationship. In this session we will explore the implications of the recent regime change, key opportunities and practical experiences of UK companies doing business in Kenya.
These events complement the existing schedule and you can get an up to date view and register for any event here: Events — British Expertise International
I hope you will all enjoy the programme we have set up for Autumn and continue to see healthy and positive outcomes in your International growth agendas. I am grateful for the opportunity to have contributed in some small way to your business success and wish you all the very best for the future.
With Best Wishes
Derrick
